The Enchanting World of Zahra Sabri

On October 5th, the Theatre Museum in Warsaw will inaugurate an exhibition titled “The Enchanting World of Zahra Sabri” as part of the ‘Lalka też Człowiek’ (Puppets Are Human Too) festival. This exhibition features a collection of puppets crafted by the Iranian artist Zahra Sabri, who is also a renowned theatre director and stage designer. Zahra Sabri began her career in 1990 when she founded the theatre company Yas-e-Tamam. Her productions have been showcased and awarded in various cities around the world including Tehran, Charleville-Mézières, Warsaw, Ruhr, Tunisia, Lebanon, Russia, India, Sweden, Spain, and Kazakhstan. Her theatre is known for its poetic nature, blending traditional Persian theatre with Western motifs and aesthetics.

Visitors to the exhibition in Warsaw will have the opportunity to see puppets from six of her notable productions: “Eight Moments” (2005), “Tooti Par” (2006), “The Earth and the Universe” (2008), “The House of Bernarda Alba” (2010), and “Mother Courage and Her Children” (2014). Additionally, her puppets for “Count to One” (2010) are displayed at the Theatre Institute in Warsaw. The exhibition will be held in the Downstairs Foyer of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, opening on October 5th at 6 pm. It will be open to the public from October 6th to November 30th, Thursday to Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and also an hour before each performance and during intermissions. Admission is free.
